The author has created yet another masterpiece. These are enjoyable, accessible stories. I completely identify with the soft, feminine features of the main character Corey. Also, I love the step mom's name, Stacy. I used to work with a Stacey that completely exposed my natural sissy nature. I could read this book 20 times. I thoroughly loved every word.

Awesome book!!

Have you been told by others, even Christians, that your marriage is hopeless? Once you read this book, you will know that with God NOTHING is impossible! The testimonies in this book are from real women whose husband's had left them and everything "looked" hopeless. But when they turned to God and followed the Biblical principles from Erin's other books "A wise woman" and "How God can and will restore your marriage," they saw their marriage restored. What looks impossible to man is NOT impossible with God. He Himself said "I am the God of all mankind, is anything too hard for Me?" Read this book and you will be filled with hope!

Just a collection of thank-you letters to Author's ministry rather than actual testimonies

I brought this used through an Amazon seller. Yes, there are testimonies upon testimonies of restored marriage. However, it seems that these are all thank-you emails and letters to the author's ministry (RMI), and most of them only 1-2 pages longe. With few exceptions, they followed the same pattern - We separated / divorced. I found RMI on-line, and ordered the books and materials and videos. They showed me the error of my ways, I changed, and we were restored. NOT that any of this isn't true. But I was looking for real guidance and DETAILS. God breaking people. Showing people His will. How they came to realizations of why marriages failed and details of how they went about restoring their relationships. And so, so many of them seem just to talk about the RMI materials changed everything, without any details of the scriptures and Biblical principals they applied. While I did glean encouragement and some insights, I was sorely disappointed that this seemed more an advertisement for the author's on-line ministry (which by the way, I found you have to pay $35 to join in able to get the benefit of the forums and discussions and prayer partners). I've been reading several books on restoration of marriage, and this one just didn't make the grade. Thank you.

Couldn't Put It Down!

Read it in 3 hours flat this evening. Very well written, nice pacing, wonderful character development. Magnus and crew are very wonderful characters to care about during their trials, which makes the story very gripping to read. Unlike his previous series, the direction of the story flows much more smoothly, not having to worry about multiple viewpoints or flat main characters. There is a slight time reference discrepancy, but nothing that takes away from the flow of the story. It was a fantastic addition to a series that started off with a strong first book. Perhaps this is his best written series yet!

Now a not complaint, but observation for parents.
This series is much more violent than previous Percy Jackson/HoO novels, as the Norse/Heathen mythos is more outright violent than its Greek counterpart. It works well with the type of story Riordan tells, and gives more emotional investment in the plot, but make sure you want your preteen to read about decapitation/gore in such a way. As an adult it added stakes and layers to the story, and was wonderful, but I can see where some parents may be caught off guard by the brutality of some descriptions. Recommend personally for 14+ age range for the casual violent scenes.

A Little Bit More Outside the Box

Why I picked it up: I like wise-cracking teens and Norse Gods. Especially together.

Why I finished it: I mentioned in another review that Riordan's books seem formulaic; while this one isn't any different in terms of the formula department, Riordan has at least mixed it up a little for his readers by going a little bit more outside the box with his characters. They feel more rounded somehow, like even though they are involved in this supernatural world there is still the real world to contend with as well. The fluidity with which the real world relates to the supernatural seems much more urgent and apparent, perhaps because of the juxtaposition between Magnus and Sam. Magnus is dead, but can still cross over to the real world while Sam is still alive and can cross into the world of the dead. Sam still has family and school and everyday teen problems to deal with on top of whatever supernatural duties go along with being a Valkyrie, helping ground the reader even as we are rocketing among the Nine Worlds. Magnus's wit and sarcasm add a certain spin to the dire situations in which our characters seem to find themselves, keeping the reader eager for the sort of tongue-in-cheek style that has defined the protagonist. I think it's somewhat poignant that Riordan has introduced a gender fluid character to the cast - it shows he's keeping with the times and getting in touch with his audience. Really I think what I got most out of this volume is the idea that we might not be able to change where we came from, but we can define who we are in a way that is true to ourselves and how we want the world to see us. We don't all fit the labels that society wants to place on us - we need to be able to defend our identities and be comfortable in our own skins. We all need to have confidence in who we are and what we believe in, even if it might seem strange or hard to understand. And on the flip side, we need to be understanding and supportive of those around us, even if we don't always agree with their point of view - that's how I see it, in any case. It's a surprisingly fast read considering the book is a hefty 480 pages and I'm eager to see what new adventure and danger Magnus and his friends will face when the third book comes out in the fall.

A fun sequel

I had a blast reading the first book and was very excited to read the rest. I have to say the side characters really fascinate me and would love to learn or read more about them. I may even like them more than Magnus. I recommend this series for any fan of the author.

A big hit with the girls

We have this story as part of a larger book and it is a major hit with our two girls. Even before school they'll take it off the shelf and ask to read 'Anna and Elsa babies'.

It's a simple story, when Anna and Elsa were small they sneaked around the castle created ice sculptures and snow while the King and Queen entertained guests.

The art is bright and cheerful and the girls relate to the idea of Anna and Elsa getting up to mischief together.
